Why the MOBOT TransitX Exoskeleton Is the Most Elderly-Centric Option

Why the MOBOT TransitX Exoskeleton Is the Most Elderly-Centric Option

For many older adults, everyday movement starts to feel harder with age. Legs get weaker, steps become shorter, and long walks or stairs may become something they avoid.

The MOBOT TransitX X1 Apex is designed for seniors who can still walk independently but want additional support. It assists their steps, helping them stay active at a pace that feels natural to them.

Best Choice for Seniors: MOBOT TransitX X1 Apex Exoskeleton

Introducing the MOBOT TransitX X1 Apex Exoskeleton, designed for active older adults who want additional support while continuing to walk with their own legs.

Its AI-powered system learns the wearer’s movement, providing responsive powered assistance as they walk rather than taking over completely.

The MOBOT TransitX X1 Apex comes with 8 modes with 3 special modes especially relevant for older users:

  • Independent Left & Right Leg Assistance — adjust the support for each leg separately.
  • Small-Step Assistance — recognises and assists shorter, gentler strides.
  • Training Mode — adds adjustable resistance for light leg exercise.

8 Modes: AI, Power, Gentle, Training, Adjustment, Small Step, Left Assist, Right Assist

For medical conditions such as stroke, parkinson's, CP etc., you may try it out or consult a medical professional on its suitability.

1. Independent Left & Right Leg Assistance

One of the MOBOT TransitX X1 Apex's most distinctive features is the ability to allow a higher lifting assistance on the weaker leg.

  • Weaker leg — provide more assistance where needed.
  • Stronger leg — keep assistance at a lower level.
  • Different needs on each side — fine-tune the support independently.

This allows the exoskeleton to better match the wearer’s own movement rather than assuming both legs need exactly the same amount of help.

For older adults with uneven leg strength, this is one of the MOBOT TransitX’s most useful features.

2. Small-Step Assistance

Unlike other exoskeleton models that only triggers when a larger stride is taken or a certain motion is detected, the MOBOT TransitX is designed to follow how elderly moves.

MOBOT TransitX X1 Apex's best elderly-friendly feature is the ability to recognise small shorter strides and still provide the support, without changing their natural movement. They naturally take shorter and more careful steps in crowded places or when they begin to feel tired.

They can continue walking at a pace that feels comfortable, while the exoskeleton adapts to the way they naturally move.

3. Training Mode: Added Resistance for Light Exercise

For seniors who want light exercise during a short walk, Training Mode adds adjustable resistance, making the legs work harder with each step.

The wearer can use walking assistance for shopping or longer outings, then choose Training Mode when they want added resistance.

MOBOT TransitX is a consumer-grade exoskeleton, not a medical or rehabilitation device. Training Mode does not replace physiotherapy or prescribed exercises.

AI Assistance That Follows Your Movement

AI-Powered: 6 Terrain Auto-Adaptation

Whether walking slowly through a crowded market or changing pace during a family outing, AI Adaptive Assistance responds to the wearer’s movement.

It adjusts to changes in pace, stride and terrain, providing all-terrain support across flat paths, slopes and uneven ground.

Dual-Motor Assistance for Everyday Walking

The MOBOT TransitX X1 Apex uses a dual-motor system with up to 800W maximum power and 22 N·m dual-side assistance torque to support everyday walking, slopes and longer outings. The wearer still takes each step and maintains their own balance.

Easy Controls: Simple Buttons with Coloured Mode and Battery Indicators

The MOBOT TransitX X1 Apex features easy-to-use buttons and coloured mode and battery indicators, making everyday operation simpler for elderly users.

A family member or caregiver can help customise the settings through the app to suit the wearer’s preferences.

Once set up, the wearer can use the on-device buttons for everyday controls, without needing to open the app each time they use it.

Lightweight at Approximately 1.85 kg

The magnesium-alloy waist frame and carbon-fibre composite leg frame keep the main unit lightweight at approximately 1.85 kg.

This helps reduce bulk when walking to the shops or spending time outside with family. Included shoulder straps help distribute the device’s weight for greater comfort during longer days out, while keeping it securely positioned.

Up to 18 km of Assisted Range

With up to 18 km of assisted range per battery, MOBOT TransitX provides support for neighbourhood walks, shopping and family outings.

Actual range varies with assistance level, terrain and usage.

Travel-Friendly Battery & Convenient Storage

For holidays and family visits, the MOBOT TransitX X1 Apex packs into its carrying case, making it easier to bring along.

Its 14.6V 4.6Ah battery holds approximately 67Wh, below the 100Wh limit generally permitted in cabin baggage without prior airline approval. This makes its battery capacity suitable for most airlines’ standard carry-on requirements.

The detachable battery can be charged separately and carried in hand luggage with its terminals protected. Call your airline before flying to confirm its requirements for both the battery and exoskeleton.

Foldable for Storage and Transport

MOBOT TransitX folds down to approximately 420 × 310 × 290 mm, making it easier to store at home or pack into a car for outings.

For older adults who still enjoy travelling or spending time outside with family, this portability makes it easier to bring their walking assistance along when needed.

Other Everyday Features

MOBOT TransitX also offers an adjustable fit, IP54 dust and splash resistance, and movement tracking through the TRANSITX app. The battery takes approximately 1.5–2 hours to recharge between outings.

Try the MOBOT TransitX X1 Apex Before Buying

An exoskeleton is something that should be experienced in person. Walking style, leg strength, body fit and preferred assistance can differ significantly from one person to another.

At MOBOT Ubi (HQ), customers can try the MOBOT TransitX X1 Apex before deciding whether it is suitable.

You can also try different assistance levels and compare the MOBOT TransitX X1 Apex against MOBOT's other consumer exoskeletons to find the system that feels most natural for you.
