Motorised PMA, PMD or PAB? Why Singaporeans Are Still Confused – And How MOBOT Makes It Simple

If you've ever been unsure whether you're looking at a mobility scooter, an e-scooter, or an e-bike—you’re not alone. With overlapping designs and ever-changing regulations, many Singaporeans still struggle to distinguish between a motorised PMA, PMD, and PAB. Add in separate rules for certification, registration, theory tests, and path usage—it’s no wonder confusion persists.

To help you navigate the complexity, MOBOT has created a clear, updated 2026 comparison table to break down the differences. Whether you’re a new buyer, a concerned caregiver, or just trying to stay compliant, this guide lays out everything you need to know—at a glance.

Own a non-UL2272 PMD or "PMA Lookalike"?

After 1st June 2026, you may be penalised if you own a non-compliant active mobility device. LTA enforcement officers have the right to confiscate your illegal mobility devices, even from your home. Due to the fire risks of non-compliant devices, you should dispose of them properly at e-waste collection points or consider trading them in with us.
